A comeback Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He saved four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
